It's Easy to Paint Pottery!
1. Pick out the piece of pottery you wish to paint. This may take a while- we have over 200 pieces to choose from!
2. Pick your paint colors. One of our staff members will help you get started. We have many tips we can share with you.
3. Happy painting! If you need inspiration, browse through one of our "Idea Books". We take a lot of pictures of customer work. You may even find your piece in The Idea Book!
4. Leave your finished pottery with us so we can glaze and fire it. We will package it and call you when it is finished! Most pottery is completed within 7-10 days, however some holidays may see some delays due to the volume of pottery we process.

What happens to my pottery after I have finished painting it?
|
After you finish painting your piece, it is shelved in the order it is completed.
Your pottery is then glazed. The glaze is green but turns clear after firing.
Only half of the piece can be glazed at a time and each half must dry 24 hours.

After it is glazed and dried it is ready to be loaded on a shelf in one of our two kilns. The pottery must be balanced on top of "stilts", otherwise it will stick to the surface.
When one shelf is full, we then use posts to build another shelf on top for more pottery. This process is repeated until the kiln is full. We try to maximize all of the space, therefore, loading the kiln is like a big puzzle. This is also why large group customers' pottery may not all be finished at the same time.

When the kilns are loaded we then fire the pottery. The kilns will get up to 1830 degrees Fahrenheit.
The firing process takes 30 hours from start to finish, which is when it is cool enough to unload.
We then match the pottery to your ticket, give you a call, and it's ready to be picked up.
